Test Proctoring

The Abilities Office offers the service of test proctoring for students registered with the Abilities Office. Test proctoring services require advance notice and an appointment.

Test Proctoring Policy

What

  1. The Abilities Office offers the service of test proctoring for students registered with the Abilities Office. Test proctoring services require advance notice and an appointment.
  2. The capacity for test proctoring is limited. Therefore, priority will be given in the following order
    • Use of adaptive software
    • Reduced distraction testing
    • Testing with Reader
    • Testing with Scribe
    • Alternate format testing (i.e. write on test copy, paper exam, use of calculator, use of scratch paper, etc.)
    • Extended test time * (solely)

      * We ask that faculty work within their department/college to coordinate testing which ONLY requires time extensions

Who

  • Test proctoring services will only be available for students registered with the Abilities Office in the current semester. 
  • Test proctoring is appropriate for students with the following accommodations:
  • Use of adaptive software
  • Reduced distraction testing (formerly private testing location)
  • Testing with Reader
  • Testing with Scribe
  • Extended test time
  • Alternate format testing
  • Write on test copy
  • Paper exam
  • Testing breaks
  • Use of calculator
  • Use of scratch paper

How (Scheduling)

Test proctoring services can be requested by faculty or the student. All parties must use their university-issued email account (@941366.com). Regardless of who initiates the request for services, the Professor must complete and submit a Faculty Testing Form.

Faculty initiated requests

  1. Faculty visits the Calendly page and determines if the appropriate date/time slot is available. If a date/time slot is not available, please call or email the Abilities Office.
  2. Faculty schedules the appointment slot by selecting the date, the time, adding the student's email in the text slot, and then selecting “confirm”. The faculty person then enters their OWN name and email address, and selects the preferred format.
  3. The following information is required before the appointment request can be submitted
    1. Student’s name and email
    2. Course name and number
    3. Total time allotted for exam
  4. The Abilities Office will respond to the request within 2 business days via email.
  5. Faculty then completes Faculty Form for Test Proctoring and returns to Abilities Office no later than 3 business days before the scheduled date of the exam/quiz

Student-initiated requests

    1. The student visits the Calendly page and determines if the appropriate date/time slot is available. *The student must initiate this process at least 2 weeks in advance of each exam that the Abilities Office will proctor.
    2. If a date/time slot is not available, please call or email the Abilities Office
    3. The student schedules the appointment slot by selecting the date, the time, professor's email, and then selecting “confirm”. The student then enters their OWN name and email address, selects the preferred format.
    4. The following information is required before the appointment request can be submitted
      1. Student’s name
      2. Professor's email
      3. Course name and number
      4. Total time allotted for exam
    5. The Abilities Office will respond to the request within 2 business days via email.
    6. The student then completes Student Form for Test Proctoring and submits it to faculty

*If the Abilities Office does not receive a form (student or faculty) for test proctoring within 48hrs of the Calendly appointment request, the appointment will be canceled and made available to others*

Where

  1. Tests are proctored in the Counseling Center- Student Union Building Suite 190
  2. All tests are administered in private rooms
  3. Noise-canceling devices are available
  4. The space is equipped with lockers for student use
